A consumer commission in Coimbatore directed a health insurance company to reimburse ₹3.42 lakh to M Baskar Ilango for heart surgery expenses. The insurer initially denied the claim, alleging Ilango failed to disclose a pre-existing diabetes condition. Ilango proved he was diagnosed with diabetes after policy inception. The commission also awarded ₹10,000 for mental distress and service deficiency, noting the insurer couldn't prove the pre-existing condition.
